The EB-2 NIW is an employment-based, second-preference immigrant visa category that lets certain professionals with an advanced degree or exceptional ability self-petition for a green card, without an employer sponsor or labor certification, when their proposed work is found to benefit the national interest of the United States.
EB-1A is a first-preference immigrant visa category for individuals who can show sustained national or international acclaim in their field, through evidence such as awards, publications, media coverage, or leadership roles. Like EB-2 NIW, it doesn’t require an employer sponsor or labor certification.
